Frequently Asked Questions
Because starting therapy comes with questions, and you deserve clear, thoughtful answers.

The decision of what type of therapist to see is up to you, and this decision can be made based on what feels comfortable for you. At Den Psychology, we use an integrative approach to client’s concerns, meaning we draw from different interventions to suit your personal goals. While we specialize in a trauma-and attachment based approach, your therapist will work with you to assess what is the best fit. If you are curious about if your therapist will be a good fit for you, Den Psychology offers a free 15 minute consultation call.
-
A clinical hour is considered 50 minutes, with the other 10 minutes allowing your therapist some time for administrative work related to your care such as notes, billing, writing letters and/or gathering resources

We are located at 9618 42 Ave NW . You can park anywhere in the parking lot that does not have a “reserved”' sign. Enter into the door labeled “9618” and walk straight past the elevator to office #104. There is a small waiting room for clients and I will come and get you before your session begins. We have water, tea, and coffee that are available for you.
-
Our first session together will look different than other sessions as we will spend the first 10 minutes or so going over important information like consent and confidentiality. The rest of the session typically involves getting to know you, as well as an evaluation of your needs and concerns. Please ask your therapist as many questions as you want!

As recommended by the Psychology Association of Alberta (PAA) fee guidelines, the session fee per clinical hour is $235. I also offer direct billing with some insurance providers. Contact your extended insurance plan to inquire about coverage of services provided by Registered Psychologists.

Den Psychology offers therapy for adults, children aged 10+, teens, and parents seeking coaching support. Sessions are tailored to be developmentally appropriate and aligned with each client’s needs.
Here are some things to know before booking a child/teen session:
Legal guardians, participating or not, must provide consent for any minors to engage with therapy. For the first session, I require at least one of the legal guardians in attendance. This is so we can go over consent and so we have an opportunity to discuss your concerns regarding your child.
For the therapeutic relationship, it is important that children feel free to share their feelings and experiences without fear that their information will be shared with their parents. I will provide general updates to parents such as therapy goals and progress. I will not share detailed information with parents unless your child has consented to me sharing, or if there are safety concerns or risk of harm to your child or another person.
-
By law, psychologists are required to maintain client confidentiality. I will not share information without your written consent, however there are a few limitations to this confidentiality. These generally include:
If there is concern regarding the safety of yourself or another, particularly a vulnerable person such as a child or elderly individual.
If there is a court subpoena for the information in your file
If you ask me to share information
If there is a psychological injury that occurred at work and a report needs to be made to WCB
During your first session, we will have a more in depth conversation about confidentiality. You are welcome to ask as many questions as you want regarding this.
